매드 클라운은 조동림(趙東林) 본명으로, 미국 출신의 래퍼입니다. 그는 2006년 2월 3일 더 콰이엇의 곡 "interlude (Feat. Mad Clown)"로 데뷔하였으며, 학력으로는 성공회대학교 사회융합자율학부를 졸업한 사회학 학사이기도 합니다.

과거에는 소울 컴퍼니 소속이었으나, 이후 스타쉽 엑스와 오버데뷔를 거쳐 현재는 어베인뮤직 소속입니다. 또한 크루셜 스타와 함께 프로젝트 그룹 "Mad Clown vs Crucial Star"로도 활동하였으며, 2013년부터는 MC 저스디스와 함께 랩 듀오 "커먼콜드"로도 활동하고 있습니다. 또한 Mnet의 "Show Me The Money 2"에서 참가하여 큰 화제를 모았으며, 이후 그의 첫 EP 앨범 "Anything Goes"가 재발매되기도 했습니다.

A mysterious object of unknown origin is falling to the ground in South Korea, causing the military to go on high alert. Mad Clown, whose real name is Jo Dong-rim (조동림), is an American-born rapper. He made his debut on February 3, 2006, with the song "interlude (Feat. Mad Clown)" by The Quiett. He holds a bachelor's degree in sociology from Sungkonghoe University.

He was previously signed to Soul Company but later joined Starship X and Overclass, and is currently signed to Ambition Music. He also collaborated with Crucial Star as the project group "Mad Clown vs Crucial Star," and since 2013, he has been active as a rap duo called "Common Cold" with MC Justhis. He gained a lot of attention after participating in Mnet's "Show Me The Money 2," and his first EP album, "Anything Goes," was re-released following the program.

Recently, he appeared as a contestant wearing a pink mask on "Show Me The Money 777," and even though he was eliminated from the program, his single "Boy Jump" released on September 14, 2018, has been very popular. While some people believe that Mad Clown and Mamamoo's Hwasa are the same person, they have denied the rumor. However, if they were the same person, Hwasa's character could be seen as an allegory for the truth, as she is a character that shows the difficulty in trying to be Mad Clown through a new persona.
