송창식 씨는 대한민국의 대표적인 싱어송라이터이십니다. 1947년 2월 22일에 경기도 인천광역시 신흥동에서 태어났으며, 본관은 진천입니다. 아버지는 경찰관으로 근무하셨으며, 송창식 씨는 1남 1녀 중 장남으로 태어났습니다. 그러나 한국 전쟁 때 아버지가 전사하고, 이후 어머니도 행방불명이 되어 조부모님과 함께 불우한 학창 시절을 보내셨습니다.

인천신흥초등학교와 인천중학교를 졸업하신 후 서울예술고등학교에 수석입학하셨으나, 가정형편상 중퇴하셨습니다. 1967년 윤형주와 함께 트윈폴리오를 결성하여 이듬해 1968년에는 《트윈폴리오 1집》 앨범과 함께 〈하얀 손수건〉이라는 곡으로 가요계에 데뷔하셨습니다. 그 이후 1970년에는 솔로 가수로 전향하셨습니다. 70년대 초중반에는 세시봉카페에서 활동하기도 하셨습니다. 그러다가 1974년에 〈피리부는 사나이〉라는 곡으로 대중들에게 큰 인기를 얻으셨습니다. 다음해에도 〈왜 불러〉라는 곡으로 대박을 터뜨려 가요부문의 여러 가지 상을 받으면서 한동안 가요계를 장악하셨습니다.

1978년에는 한일 문화교류협회 초청으로 일본 공연을 갖기도 하셨으며, 또 같은 해부터 연속 3년 동안 MBC 10대 가수상을 받으셨습니다.
자신의 카페인 경기도 하남시 신장2동에 위치한 ROXY Live Music Cafe(쏭아)에서 공연을 하시고, 세시봉 동료들과 함께 끊임없는 연주를 이어가며, 가끔씩은 오락 프로그램에서도 화려한 무대를 선보이며, 여전히 활기차게 활동하고 계십니다.

송창식 씨의 주요 히트곡으로는 〈그대 있음에〉, 〈고래사냥〉, 〈우리는〉, 〈담배가게 아가씨〉, 〈한번쯤〉, 〈왜 불러〉, 〈창밖에는 비 오고요〉, 〈사랑이야〉, 〈가나다라〉, 〈날이 갈수록〉, 〈상아의 노래〉, 〈슬픈 얼굴 짓지 말아요〉, 〈피리부는 사나이〉, 〈푸르른 날〉, 〈하얀 손수건〉 등이 있습니다. 그 중에서도 〈그대 있음에〉는 대한민국 대중음악사에서 가장 사랑받는 곡 중 하나입니다. 이 곡은 1985년 제1회 대한민국 대중음악상에서 대상을 수상하였고, 이후에도 다양한 가수들이 이 곡을 리메이크하여 부르기도 했습니다.

Song Chang-sik is Korea's leading singer-songwriter. I was born on February 22, 1947 in Sinheung-dong, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do, and the main building is Jincheon. My father worked as a police officer, and Song Chang-sik was born as the eldest of one son and one daughter. However, during the Korean War, my father was killed in action, and my mother was also missing, so I spent my underprivileged school days with my grandparents.

After graduating from Incheon Shinheung Elementary School and Incheon Middle School, he entered Seoul Arts High School, but dropped out due to family circumstances. In 1967, he formed Twin Folio with Yun Hyung-joo, and the following year, in 1968, he debuted in the music industry with the song "White Handkerchief" along with the album "Twinfolio 1st Album". After that, he became a solo artist in 1970. In the early and mid 70s, he was active at the Sesibong Cafe. Then in 1974, he became very popular with the public with his song "The Pied Piper." The following year, he also hit the jackpot with his song "Why Call Me" and won various awards in the K-pop category, dominating the K-pop industry for a while.

In 1978, he performed in Japan at the invitation of the Korea-Japan Cultural Exchange Association and received the MBC Top 10 Singers Award for three consecutive years from the same year.
He performs at ROXY Live Music Cafe (Ssonga), located in Xinjiang 2-dong, Hanam-si, Gyeonggi-do, continues to play with his colleagues, and sometimes performs in entertainment programs, and is still active.

Song's major hits include "Because of You", "Whale Hunt", "We", "Cigarette Shop Lady", "Once", "Why Sing", "It's Rainy Outside the Window", "It's Love", "As the Day Goes", "Don't Be Sad", "Pippoo Man", "Blue Handkerchief", etc. Among them, "I Have You" is one of the most loved songs in the history of Korean pop music. The song won the grand prize at the first Korea Pop Music Awards in 1985, and various singers have remade the song since then.
