1970년대, 김추자씨는 가창력과 섹시한 춤으로 대한민국 가요계에서 큰 인기를 끌었습니다. 그녀의 대표곡 중 하나인 '담배는 청자, 노래는 추자'라는 유행어가 생기기도 했습니다. 그리고 1971년에는 영화 '내일의 팔도강산 - 제3편'에서 카메오 단역으로 연기 데뷔하셨습니다.

하지만 1975년 4월, 긴급조치 9호인 가요 규제조치가 발표되면서 김추자씨의 모든 노래가 금지곡으로 지정되었습니다. 그녀는 신중현, 이장희, 윤형주 등과 함께 가수활동 전면 금지를 선고받았으며, 이는 대마초 소지 혐의로 인한 것이었습니다. 이후 여러 차례의 재기를 시도했지만 실패하다가 1988년에 컴백하여 [세월만 가네]를 발매하셨습니다.

Kim Chu-ja was born on January 2, 1951 in Hyoja-dong, Chuncheon, Gangwon-do. After graduating from Chuncheon Girls' High School, he worked as a cheering squad leader, badminton, and mechanical gymnastics player and sang Shim Soo-ga to win the prize. Later, he went to Dongguk University's Department of Theater and Film and received a bachelor's degree.

In the 1970s, Kim Chu-ja became very popular in the Korean music industry for her singing ability and sexy dance. One of her representative songs, 'Cigarette is a listener, song is a dance,' was coined. And in 1971, he made his acting debut as a cameo in the movie 'Tomorrow's Paldo Gangsan - Part III'.

However, in April 1975, all of Kim Chu-ja's songs were designated as banned songs when the emergency measure No. 9 K-pop regulation was announced. Along with Shin Jung-hyun, Lee Jang-hee, and Yun Hyung-joo, she was banned from singing altogether, which was due to cannabis possession charges. Since then, he has tried several comebacks, but failed, but he made a comeback in 1988 and released "Time Only Goes".

Most of Kim Chu-ja's music was composed by Shin Jung-hyun, who pursued Korean rock. It was a music with modern and Korean elements that distinguished it from trot, which was popular at the time, and for example, the debut song "Before It's Late" was soulful at first, but it contains various musical elements such as the introduction of pansori singing style in the second half.
