김추자씨는 대한민국의 가수로, 1951년 1월 2일 강원도 춘천시에서 태어나셨습니다. 춘천여자고등학교를 졸업하신 후, 고등학교 시절에는 응원단장으로 활약하며, 강원도 배드민턴과 기계체조 선수로도 활동하셨습니다. 또한, 춘천향토제에서 전통 창인 〈수심가〉를 부르며 3위를 차지하셨습니다.

김추자씨는 1969년 동국대학교 연극영화학과에 입학하시고, 1973년 학사학위를 받으셨습니다. 그 후 신중현님께서 김추자씨의 노래를 듣고 곡을 주어, 1969년에 데뷔 음반을 발표하셨습니다. 가창력과 매력적인 춤으로 1970년대에 큰 인기를 얻으시며, '담배는 청자, 노래는 추자'라는 유행어까지 만들어냈습니다.

또한, 1971년에는 영화 《내일의 팔도강산 - 제3편》에서 카메오 단역으로 출연하셨습니다. 1970년대 말, 당시 가수들이 대마초 소지 혐의와 관련해 규제를 받았고, 이로 인해 많은 가수와 작곡가들이 금지곡 목록에 올랐습니다. 김추자씨도 그 중 한 사람이었습니다.

이후 여러 차례 복귀를 시도했으나 실패하셨으며, 결국 1981년 결혼을 하시며 가요계에서 퇴출되었습니다. 그러나 1986년 KBS TV [백분쇼]에 출연하신 뒤, 다시 가요계에 복귀하셨습니다. 1988년 컴백하시면서 [세월만 가네]라는 곡을 발매하셨습니다.

Kim Chu-ja is a South Korean singer who was born on January 2, 1951 in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province. After graduating from Chuncheon Girls' High School, he was a cheerleader in high school and also a badminton and mechanical gymnastics player in Gangwon-do. In addition, he sang "Susimga," a traditional spear, at the Chuncheon Local Festival, and came in third place.

Kim Chu-ja went to Dongguk University's Department of Theater and Film in 1969 and received a bachelor's degree in 1973. Later, Shin Jung-hyun listened to Kim Chu-ja's song and gave her a song, and released her debut album in 1969. His singing ability and sexy dance gained huge popularity in the 1970s, and he even coined the buzzword, "Cigarette is a listener, song is a dance."

Also, in 1971, he played a cameo part in the movie "Tomorrow's Paldo Gangsan - Part III." In the late 1970s, K-pop regulations were imposed in Korea in connection with cannabis possession charges that were popular among singers at the time, and as a result, many singers and composers were placed on the banned list. Kim Chu-ja was one of them.

Since then, he has tried to make a comeback several times, but failed, and eventually he got married in 1981 and resigned from the music industry. However, after appearing on the first KBS TV "100 Minute Show" in 1986, he returned to the music industry. Later in 1988, when he made a comeback, he released a song called "Time goes by".

Most of Kim Chu-ja's music was composed by Shin Jung-hyun and pursued Korean rock. At that time, both Shin Jung-hyun and Kim Chu-ja were considered one of the most influential figures in the Korean pop music scene in the 1970s. Some of Kim Chu-ja's representative songs were composed by Shin Jung-hyun. Kim Chu-ja pursued Korean rock.

At that time, rock and pop music popular in the West were popular in Korea, but Kim Chu-ja tried to make Korean pop songs rather than such music.
