이용씨는 1981년 국풍 81에서 금상을 수상하면서 《바람이려오》로 데뷔하셨으며, 조용필씨와 함께 1980년대 초반에 높은 인기를 얻으셨습니다. 이용씨는 활동 당시 큰 금테 안경을 착용하시면서 폭발적인 가창력으로 많은 이들의 관심을 받으셨습니다.

또한, 이용씨의 대표곡인 《잊혀진 계절》은 원래 조영남씨의 노래가 되어야 했으나, 다른 사정 때문에 발표하지 못하게 된 것을 계기로 작곡가 이범희씨가 이용씨에게 곡을 주셨습니다. 이용씨와 조영남씨는 같은 레코드사 소속이셨는데, 조영남씨가 계약하지 않고 불렀으나, 계약이 틀어지면서 이용씨에게 넘어간 것입니다. 조영남씨는 행사나 공연에서 이 노래를 영어로 개사하여 커버하기도 하셨습니다.

이 곡은 매년 10월의 마지막 날에 거의 모든 방송 매체와 라디오에서 흘러나오는 유명한 곡으로, 한국에서는 10월 31일을 말하면 할로윈보다는 먼저 '잊혀진 계절'을 떠올리게 됩니다.

Yi Yong is a South Korean singer, actor, and singer-songwriter who was born in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. He spent his childhood in Incheon before moving to Seoul to grow up. He made his debut at the age of 25 in 1981 with the song "Baramiryeo" at the Kukpung 81 (Young People's Song Festival). Yi's father was a former South Korean Army Lieutenant Colonel who graduated from the 8th Army Non-commissioned Officer Candidate School and the Artillery and Missile School, and Yi's son Nam-seong is a vocal professor at Marshall University in West Virginia, while his daughter Yeoseong is studying broadcast entertainment at Jongno Industrial Information High School.

Yi gained popularity in the early 1980s along with Jo Yong-pil, and he was known for wearing large round glasses and having explosive vocal talent. His representative song "Forgotten Season" was originally intended for Jo Young-nam, but due to certain circumstances, it was given to Yi by composer Lee Beom-hee. Jo and Yi were both under the same record company, and Jo had recorded the song without signing a contract, but the contract fell through and the song was passed on to Yi. Jo has also covered the song in English at events and performances.

"Forgotten Season" is a famous song that is played on almost every broadcasting medium and radio station on the last day of October each year, and in Korea, it is more associated with that date than Halloween.
