YB는 대한민국의 록 밴드로, 데뷔 시에는 '윤도현 밴드'로 활동하다가 2005년에 밴드명을 'YB'로 변경하여 활동하고 있습니다. YB로 변경한 이유는 유럽 순회공연을 함께했던 영국 밴드 스테랑코가 "YB의 음악은 국제적으로 인정받을만 하나 밴드이름을 발음하기가 어렵다"라고 제안하여 이름을 변경하였습니다. 'YB'라는 명칭 자체는 2003년부터 사용되고 있습니다.

1994년에 윤도현의 솔로 앨범으로 발매한 1집 앨범 《타잔/가을 우체국 앞에서》를 시작으로 밴드를 결성했습니다. 이때 유병열(기타), 김진원(드럼), 박태희(베이스)와 함께 밴드를 구성하였고, 이후 다른 멤버들도 합류하여 97년에는 2집 앨범 《윤도현2 and Band》를 발표하며 본격적인 활동을 시작했습니다. 그 후 98년에 3집 앨범 《소외》, 99년에 4집 앨범 《한국 Rock 다시부르기》를 연달아 발매하고 라이브 공연을 통해 점차 인기를 얻어갔습니다. 그러나 경제적인 문제와 여러 사정으로 인해 잠시 밴드를 해체하였으나 4집 앨범 수록곡 〈너를 보내고〉의 히트로 다시 결성되었습니다.

이후 활발한 활동을 이어나가며 2002년 FIFA 한일 월드컵에서 발표한 응원가 〈오 필승 코리아〉로 큰 인기를 얻었습니다. 이 곡은 원래는 윤도현 개인이 참여한 기업의 CM송이었으나 월드컵 열기와 함께 밴드의 곡으로 인기를 얻게 되었습니다. 이를 계기로 대중적인 활동의 폭을 넓혀가며 2002년 KBS 가요대상에서 청소년이 뽑은 인기가요상과 MBC 10대 가수 가요제에서 본상을 수상하였습니다.

2003년에는 전국 순회공연을 하며 활발한 활동을 이어나갔고, 2005년에는 유럽 투어를 통해 런던, 프랑크푸르트, 베를린, 밀라노 등 4개국 7개 도시의 언더그라운드 클럽에서 공연을 했습니다. 이때 밴드의 이름을 스테랑코의 제안으로 'YB'로 변경하였습니다. 이후 꾸준한 활동을 이어나가며 2011년에는 영국인 기타리스트 스캇 할로웰이 정식 멤버로 합류하였고, 2015년에는 데뷔 20주년을 맞아 전국에서 《YB 20주년 콘서트 '스무살' (20-years)》를 개최하였습니다.

YB는 꾸준한 음악적 활동과 다양한 공연으로 대한민국의 대표적인 록 밴드로 인정받고 있으며, 그들의 음악은 전 세계적으로도 인정받을 만한 가치를 지니고 있습니다.

YB is a Korean rock band, and when they debuted, they were active as 'Yoon Do-hyun Band' and changed the band name to 'YB' in 2005. The reason for the change to YB was that the British band Steranco, who had toured Europe with him, suggested that "YB's music is internationally recognized, but it is "The band's name is challenging to articulate." The moniker 'YB' has been in circulation since 2003.

In 1994, he formed a band with Yoon Do-hyun's first solo album, "Tarzan/In front of Autumn Post Office". At that time, he formed a band with Yoo Byung-yeol (guitar), Kim Jin-won (drum), and Park Tae-hee (base), and later other members joined and began their activities in earnest by releasing their second album "Yoon Do-hyun 2 and Band" in 1997. After that, he released his third album "The Outlaws" in 1998 and his fourth album "Singing Korean Rock Again" in 1999 and gradually gained popularity through live performances. However, due to financial problems and various circumstances, the band was briefly disbanded, but it was re-formed as a hit from the fourth album, "Sending You".

Since then, he has continued his active activities and gained huge popularity with the cheering song "Oh Pilseung Korea" released at the 2002 FIFA Korea-Japan World Cup. It was originally a commercial song of a company in which Yoon Do-hyun participated, but it became popular as a song of the band with the World Cup fever. With this opportunity, he expanded his popular activities and won the Popular Song Award selected by teenagers at the 2002 KBS Song Awards and the main award at the MBC Top 10 Singers Song Festival.

In 2003, he toured the country and continued to be active, and in 2005, he performed in underground clubs in seven cities in four countries, including London, Frankfurt, Berlin, and Milan, on a European tour. At this time, the band was changed to 'YB' at the suggestion of Steranco. Since then, British guitarist Scott Hallowell has joined as an official member in 2011, and in 2015, he held the "YB 20th Anniversary Concert 20-years" nationwide to mark the 20th anniversary of his debut.

YB is recognized as one of Korea's leading rock bands for their steady musical activities and various performances, and their music is worthy of recognition all over the world.
