드라마 프로포즈는 1990년대 인기를 끌었던 김희선과 류시원이 주연을 맡은 멜로 드라마. 이 작품으로 김희선은 대중적인 여배우로서의 절정을 이루며, 이전 작품인 "봄날은 간다"의 실패를 되풀이하지 않기 위해 청춘들을 대상으로 삼았습니다. 처음에는 이혼 여성과 연하 남자의 사랑과 갈등, 사랑과 배신, 사랑과 성공, 사랑과 야망, 사랑과 이별을 다루는 이야기를 그려내기로 계획되었습니다. 그러나 배우 섭외 문제와 계절적 불일치 때문에 청춘 트렌디 드라마로 급선회되었습니다. 제목 또한 "사랑과 이별"로 결정되었으며 이정재와 김희선이 주요 인물로 캐스팅되었습니다.

하지만 이정재의 출연이 취소되자, 설득을 거쳐 류시원을 캐스팅했습니다. 이과정에서 제작진은 "사과꽃 향기"로 제목을 변경했지만, "너무 추상적이다"라는 비난을 받아 마치 "러브레터"로 변경되는 듯한 흐름을 보였습니다. 그러나 "진부하다"는 비판이 나와서 급히 다시 변경되었습니다. 그 결과, 높은 시청률을 기록하며 성공을 거뒀습니다. 그 이후 월화 드라마의 슬럼프에서 벗어나고, 원래 10부작으로 기획되었지만 후속작으로 기획되었던 "전설의 고향"이 갑작스럽게 9시 주말극으로 변경되어 새로운 드라마 제작이 불투명해지자, 4편을 추가하여 총 14회로 마무리되었습니다.

The title was also decided as "Love and Farewell," and Lee Jung-jae and Kim Hee-sun were cast as key characters.

However, when Lee Jung-jae's appearance was canceled, he was persuaded to cast Ryu Si-won. In the process, the production team changed the title to "Apple Flower Scent," but it was criticized for being "too abstract," making it seem like a "love letter." But it was hastily changed again because of criticism that it was "diligenthusiastic. As a result, it was successful with high ratings. Since then, after escaping the slump of Monday-Tuesday dramas, "Legendary Home," which was originally planned as a 10-episode series but was planned as a follow-up, was suddenly changed to a 9 o'clock weekend drama, and the production of a new drama became uncertain, and four more episodes were added to finish with a total of 14.
