2014년 10월 27일, 가수 신해철이 향년 47세로 세상을 떠났다는 소식이 전해졌습니다. 신해철은 17일에 장 협착증 수술을 받은 후 가슴과 복부 통증으로 입, 퇴원을 반복하다가 22일 병실에서 심정지로 쓰러졌으며, 이후 의식불명 상태에서 세상을 떠났습니다. 이에 대해 고인의 유족은 수술을 집도했던 의사를 상대로 의료 과실치사 소송을 제기했으며, 지난해 5월 대법원은 집도의사에게 징역 1년을 선고한 원심을 확정하며 의료과실로 인한 사망을 인정했습니다.
신해철은 1988년 대학가요제에서 밴드 무한궤도로 데뷔하여 대한민국 대표 록 가수로 자리매김했습니다. 그가 데뷔한 지 20년이 넘도록 그의 곡들은 많은 이들의 사랑을 받아왔으며, 대표적인 히트곡으로는 '어머님께', '내 마음의 보석상자', '새', '해바라기', '난 멈추지 않는다' 등이 있습니다. 신해철은 그의 음악으로 인해 많은 이들에게 감동과 위안을 전해주었으며, 그의 존재는 대한민국 음악 역사에 큰 흔적을 남겨놓았습니다.

He appeared in the music industry as a lead vocalist and guitarist in infinite orbit, participating in the MBC University Song Festival and winning the grand prize. He mainly pursued rock, but challenged various genres such as techno, jazz, Korean traditional music, and classical music.
Shin Hae-cheol was a first-generation pioneer in the Korean pop music scene, and was highly interested in developing technologies and programs in various fields such as sound and recording engineering, and computer programming and arrangement. His music was highly praised for its musicality as it had an experimental and original aspect.
