1972년에는 작곡가 서승일의 권유로 데뷔 앨범 '내 마음 급행열차'를 발표했지만 성공하지 못했습니다. 그러나 1973년에는 〈추억의 푸른 언덕〉을 발표하여 MBC 10대 가수 가요제에서 인기가수상을 수상하며 주목을 받았습니다. 이후에도 〈한강의 기적〉, 〈물레방아 이야기〉, 〈춤은 추면서도〉, 〈미운 오리 새끼〉, 〈사랑의 총알〉 등을 히트시켜 대한민국 트로트의 대표적인 가수로 자리매김했습니다.

Tae Jin-ah is a South Korean trot singer who was born on Feb. 16, 1953, in Tanbu-myeon, Boeun County, North Chungcheong Province. Her real name is Cho Bang-heon, and she grew up in a poor family from an early age. Although she couldn't go to middle school after graduating from elementary school, she worked hard in Seoul to prepare for her younger siblings' tuition by working as a shoe shiner, a deliveryman at a Chinese restaurant, and a waitress.

In 1972, composer Seo Seung-il recommended his debut album, "The Express of My Heart," but without success. In 1973, however, he released "Green Hill of Memories," which received the Popular Artist Award at the MBC Top 10 Singers' Song Festival. Since then, he has established himself as a representative Korean trot singer by making hits such as "Miracle on the Han River," "The Story of the Waterwheel," "While Dancing," "The Ugly Duckling," and "Bullet of Love."

She was active in the media industry as well as music. She produced OSTs for numerous dramas and movies and worked as an MC or host for various entertainment programs and entertainment awards, establishing herself as a more familiar figure to the public.
