Born in 1988, the classic "To You" was created by Shin Hae-cheol, a Korean singer, songwriter, and producer. The song won the grand prize at the MBC Music Festival that year by participating in Infinite Track, a team he formed with his friends.
As a second-year college student, Shin participated in the 9th MBC Gangbyeon Song Festival at the request of his team, Baby Angel, formed by his bandmates in high school. However, after he failed to pass the final round, Shin made the song "To You" with his thoughts and efforts. To that end, Shin studied the characteristics of the festival and set up strategies. In the process of composing, he worked with thoughts such as, "You have to hit it splendidly from the beginning of the introduction," and "You have to charge it from the beginning with a forward charge type." As a result, he participated in the MBC Song Festival held at Jamsil Gymnastics Stadium on Dec. 24, 1988, and won the grand prize by participating in the Infinite Track that he formed with his friends.
"To You" was later included in the recorded version of "Myself," Shin's second solo album, released in 1991. It was also often used as a cheerleader at various sports events and college festivals.
